George Abbot students and staff are very pleased with a really strong set of GCSE results. Subjects across the curriculum have enabled students to achieve fantastic progress during their five years at the school. We expect our Progress 8 score to rise from the already excellent 2018 result.
In English, 75% of students achieved grades 9-5 and 86% achieved grades 9-4. In Maths, 64% of students achieved grades 9-5 and 83% achieved grades 9-4. We are particularly delighted with our History results where 55% of students gained a grade 7 or above; Geography and MfL results also stand out indicating excellent performance in the EBacc subjects. Results in Music see 67% of students gaining grades 9-7 and almost half of our Art students achieving grades 9-7. George Abbot is particularly pleased that our GCSE results reinforce our philosophy that students should study a broad and balanced curriculum, with students performing equally well across the sciences, arts, humanities and core subjects.
There are a large number of outstanding performances from individual students, but 4 to particularly mention are Cassia Taylor and Brandon Acres gaining 9 x grade 9s alongside Pippa Thorne and Jake Paterson gaining 7 x grade 9s. Well done!

“We are so pleased that this superb year group has achieved the set of results they deserve. They showed real commitment throughout their GCSE studies at the school. I am looking forward to welcoming a very large number of them back to our George Abbot Sixth Form. Congratulations to all of our students and my thanks to the outstanding staff at George Abbot who continue to teach our students to an exceptionally high standard.”
