Congratulations to a group of talented Year 8 artists who have taken part in a wonderful community arts project during called ‘Surrey Unearthed’, these students will receive a Bronze Arts Award certificate.
The Arts project celebrated the importance of the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Our group of enthusiastic artists created colourful lanterns with artist, Mary Branson and these lanterns were held up high and lit, during Mary’s art installation, which was held at Box Hill during sunset last September; the students and their families all attended.
The Lantern Workshop with Mary Branson gave the students a chance to work with a practicing artist, learning not only how to make a lantern, but also how a public art project is planned and brought to fruition.
Having watched the stunning sights of the lanterns and Mary Branson’s Light installation, Harvest, on the fields below Box Hill the students attended four Art workshops led by Hannah where they produced an Art folder, recording a variety of arts events and activities.
